McDonald’s Sandwich Sauces

If you love McDonald’s then you’ve heard all the rage about the bottled and store-bought versions of the Big Mac, McChicken, and Filet-O-Fish sauces.

The three sandwich sauces can be found at various grocery stores across the nation. I know you can find them at Walmart, Real Canadian Superstore, Metro, and I believe FreshCo. My sister managed to locate all three and I got to try them out one day.

Filet-O-Fish Sauce

To be honest, I’ve never really had the Filet-O-Fish sandwich from McDonald’s. I don’t really eat fish (only eel and tuna) so I don’t order it. But, I did try it for the sake of this blog.

The store-bought version tastes like sour cream and onion with a hint of dill. It’s creamy and thick. I’m not sure how it compares to the sandwich version, but my sister says it tastes the same.

Big Mac Sauce

I’m going to say it: I hate the Big Mac because of the sauce. There I said it. I don’t know what the hype about the Big Mac sauce is all about but I’m not part of it. Still, I tried out the store-bought version to see how it fares with the sandwich version.

To me, the store-bought version tastes more tangy and doesn’t really taste like the sandwich version. Compared to the other two sauces, it was runnier (which parallels the sandwich version). Even though it didn’t taste like the sandwich version to me, I wasn’t a fan of the store-bought version either. It’s the vinegar-like taste that I’m not into.

McChicken Sauce

My go-to order at McDonald’s is a McChicken. Even though I don’t like mayonnaise and the sauce resembles that, there was always something different about the McChicken sauce.

With the store-bought version, it tastes exactly like the sandwich version. It did have a slight tang to it but it was pretty much spot on. Because it’s thick, it’s better to spread this one than to use it as a dip.

After trying out the sauces, I’m not sure if I love them enough to purchase my own bottles. Like I previously said, the McChicken is the only one of the three that I actually order, plus I don’t eat McDonald’s that often. Now, if McDonald’s started selling their hashbrowns in grocery stores, I’d be on that in a heartbeat.

If you’ve tried these bottled sauces, let me know what you think of them.
